Overview:
San Diego Birth Network was established in 1997 as a doula group. In 2009 we grew to become an all-encompassing group of dedicated professionals that support pregnant people, babies, and families during the prenatal, birth and postpartum period. All of our providers are local to San Diego County and include Birth Doulas, Postpartum Doulas, Midwives, ObGyn’s, Childbirth Educators, Osteopaths, Massage Therapists, Lactation Specialists, Yoga instructors, Birth and Pregnancy Photography and much more. San Diego Birth Network, a project of Birth Resource Network, a non-profit organization, has been providing families with birth and postpartum resources since 1997.
We as a group have dreamed of this day for many years: A full resource website where families can come find practitioners for each stage of the prenatal, birth and postpartum period. One place that they can come to with confidence knowing that each of the practitioners listed will listen and hear them as individuals. All providers must read and agree with the Mother and Baby Friendly Principles set by CIMS (Coalition for Improving Maternity Services)

Our Mission:
Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are milestone events in the continuum of life. These experiences profoundly affect pregnant people, babies, partners, and families, and have important and long-lasting effects on society. Our mission is to create a place that allows families the confidence that our members believe in the normalcy of the birthing process while helping to provide families with education so that they can make informed decisions about their care.

Lactation Support Group
Is breastfeeding not going the way you expected? Does it surprise you to hear that in the US, about 83% of newborns start off receiving some breast milk, but by 6 months of age, roughly only 25% of babies still receive breast milk exclusively? That's because breastfeeding is hard work and no, it doesn't necessarily come naturally! It is a learned technique shared between 2 beings that takes time, education, grace, and effort to be successful. Our mission is to welcome all who need help in breastfeeding or who want to join our baby feeding support group in a non-judgmental space with guidance, love for creating strong family bonds, and compassion.
