Robin NaughtonBabywearing, Holistic Care, Yoga and Fitness
Originally from Boston, Robin moved to San Diego in 2009 for a warm and sunny place to recover from hip surgery resulting from years as a competitive gymnast and dancer. Her overuse injuries and chronic pain issues (read her story here) ultimately motivated her to pursue a career in exercise physiology, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Robin received her B.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Along with her education, Robin’s personal experiences have guided her in developing a holistic approach in treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction and helping her clients reach their fitness goals.
Prior to moving to San Diego, Robin spent 4 years as the Assistant Director of her mother’s dance studio, The Dance Inn, just north of Boston. In addition, she was a full time dance teacher and the manager for the studio’s youth dance intensive and pre-professional youth companies. As manager, she designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs and coordinated health and fitness workshops, covering topics on injury prevention and rehabilitation, nutrition, flexibility and strength training programs, and relaxation techniques.
In the past, Robin has worked at Project J.U.M.P. (an after-school fitness program for at-risk youth), UMass Boston’s fitness center, Boston Sports Club, Heartlight, YMCA, and Gold’s Gym. Currently, she holds the ACE Personal Trainer certification with an emphasis in postural alignment, pain management, and performance enhancement. Robin is also certified in the Symmetry Postural Alignment program where she evaluates and develops individualized corrective exercise programs for her clients. Trained as an instructor of Stott Pilates® as well as Foundation Training, Robin enjoys combining her skills to provide clients with the most comprehensive and personalized workout possible to help them meet their goals.
In her spare time, Robin teaches tap, jazz, and hip hop at All Star Dance in Solana Beach, and goes back to Boston periodically to teach master classes at The Dance Inn. Robin is grateful to her parents for instilling an early appreciation for movement, health, and a belief that anything is possible. Robin’s experiences have helped to craft an approach to fitness that is personalized and based on a sincere appreciation for the delicate balance of the human body.
